About The Empty Spool

Welcome! The Empty Spool is a new, independent on-line quilt shop. Established in 2005 The Empty Spool is located in our home in Lansing, Michigan. Although we are starting out small, our goal is to grow into a full line quilt shop that offers high quality fabrics to quilters all over the world. We currently carry collections from Northcott-Monarch, Robert Kaufman, P & B Textiles, Inc. & Henry Glass Co.

About The Owner

Born and raised in Lansing Michigan, I have enjoyed sewing for over 20 years. One of my favorite things about sewing is finding fabrics that look beautiful together and then making something with them that is pleasing to the eye. When my children were small I would make clothes for them to satisfy my desire to work with fabrics. I don’t know about you but I love fabric! When the kids got older they no longer wanted to wear clothes made by Mom, so for several years I didn’t do much sewing. Then the need to mix and match once again hit me and that is when I took up quilting. Quilting fulfills all of my creative needs. I get to go from shop to shop or surf site to site looking for just the right fabrics, then piece and quilt them together to make something wonderful!

I have found that the Internet is a wonderful resource for finding that one fabric you really need (or simply want!) but can’t find in your local quilt shops. I wish you luck in your hunt for the perfect fabrics and hope that my store will help you to find just what you are looking for!
